in our grief or find that life is worth living. That
doesn't mean to irnply that it is easy or happens in a
short time. Grief is a normal reaction to the death of
a loved one. It is painful, and requires a lot of grief
work on ourpart. There is no specific timeframe for
grief; for most of us the pain of grief takes too long.
Ask yourself this question: If I had died and my
loved one had lived, would I want them to be as
happy as possible? I'm sure your answer would be
YES! Realize that your happiness is what your
loved one would want for you. You need to work on
your grief and work toward that attitude of
happiness.
And happiness IS an attitude. It's like a muscle; the more you use it, the better it develops. You
have to look for the possibilities in life. If you get
stuck in the mire, you stay there. You can leam new
ways of coping; you can learn skills for getting "unstuck". As you journey through grief, hold onto
hope and become determined to enjoy as much of
life as possible. That is a real tribute to your loved
one! Following are some suggestions for the New
ls31-"lssolutions" if you will.
.
I will be kind to myself; I will take care of my
health, my appearance, and try to enjoy life.
. I will try to be more considerate of my
remaining loved ones; they too are coping
and deserve my help.
. I
will not be afraid to
try
"fi1s1s"-fu1fi1lment, joy and advenfure may
await me there!
.
.
.
.
I will enjoy laughing without feeling guilty; I
will smile!
I will keep from becoming a recluse.
I will put normalcy back into life, realizing
that I have a new "nomal".
I will look at others who are happy without
feeling pain or resentment.
.
.
I will continue when I falter.
I resolve, in memory of rny loved one, to do
something to help sofileone else, for I know
that in doing this my loved one will live on
through me.
I will try not to expect so much understanding
from others who have not walked the same path.
OOT STUFF?? ANNUAL AUCTION REMINDER,S
We have an annual auction in March; we can use
just about any type of household item--appliances, electronics, furniture, clothing, bedding, toys, etc. This
would also include lawn care items, tools, sports equipment--just about anything! Items should be in good condition; in other words, something someone would be
willing to buy at an auction for a reasonable amount of
money.
We have the ability to store the items: We can
take them off your hands any time during the year and
store them until auction time, making it sirnple for you.
After all, when we are ready to clean out our storage
spaces, we want to do it NOW!
We did quite well with this fundraiser in2}ll--our
first. It has the potential to become a very important part
of our fundraising efforts, and is pretty easy for everyone
to participate in.
Think about the following:
Do you know someone who is moving? Often
times items do not fit into the new home, or people just
want to buy something new. ASK if they would be willing to donate!
Do you know someone who is downsizing, moving into senior housing, or ?? ASK!
Do you know someone who is getting marrieAtablished households? Women generally don't want to
other items--to their decor.
@s--and
ASK!
Are you, or do you know a real estate agent who
would be willing to help us? After all, they are in the
business where people are constantly moving! ASK if
they would be willing to give a flyer to their clients
DONATE items to be auctioned
off in our live auction.
