Message from Our Pastor
Over the years, as Pastor of this
wonderful parish community, I have
personally experienced many of you as
having been very faithful in fulfilling
your stewardship of time, talent and
treasure responsibilities as dedicated,
committed members of our parish.
Conscious of your love for Jesus
Christ and his Church and the calling to
become intentional disciples of the
Lord; it becomes my annual pastoral
responsibility to ask each and every
adult member of our parish community
to help invest in providing the time and
talent needed, as well as underwrite
the cost involved in financing the
mission of our vibrant parish.
Together, we will present our
commitment forms at the foot of the
sacrificial altar of our Lord in the
sanctuary of our Church, as we
celebrate our annual Time, Talent and
Treasure Campaign Commitment

25/26.

Update About Fr. Luke
Dear Members of our Parish Family,
We have been receiving
inquiries in reference to
news being shared about
health concerns for
Father Luke Strand.
Hopefully, this
information will be
helpful for you. Recently, both Father
Brad and I received a call from Father
Luke informing us that he had been
diagnosed with colon cancer. It has
been found early, and the medical team
and Father Luke are finalizing the
strategies and plans for medical
procedures to help ensure best
possible results for Father Luke.
What can we do for Father Luke? At
his request, it would be very reassuring
to add our prayers to the many being
offered for him, that God will send his
Holy Spirit to help guide the medical
personnel working with him to
maximize results in the short term and
beyond. May the Holy Spirit also
strengthen the resolve of Father Luke
to hope for remarkable results! Mary,
health of the sick, pray for us.

The St. Dominic Respect Life Committee will be praying at Affiliated Medical
Services, an abortion clinic, in Milwaukee. We’re taking part in the national
campaign, 40 Days for Life, until November 2, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. This is a
peaceful prayer vigil – we do not engage those coming or going. Please consider
joining us at AMS, located at 1428 N. Farwell Avenue, in Milwaukee.

Respect Life and Empathy Go Hand In Hand
This month our students are focusing on the virtue of empathy. There is no
greater time to teach this virtue than during
Respect Life month. Empathy is the ability to
understand and appreciate the needs of others
and act accordingly. In order to show true respect,
one must have empathy. At the core of both is
love; true love where the needs of another are
more important than your own. But it is the
understanding the we are all created in God's
image and with great love that we should respond
in love to the needs of others from womb to
tomb. There is no better example of how to do
that than the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is no accident
that these two things run parallel in our faith practice. She is the epitome of
respecting life and ultimate surrender we all must have to the will of God.

Come check out our student scarecrows scattered
about the Brookfield Village Art Crawl, where local
artists will have their work on display, this Friday
evening. Ms. Lorenz and Mrs. Barker worked with our
students to develop and construct these "boo"tiful
creations.
Have You Been Called?
Even though classes and activities have begun, there are still
opportunities for you to help Children’s Ministry. Substitutes
are needed for Sunday mornings, Tuesday evenings and
Thursday afternoons. A catechist is needed for 1st grade on
Thursday afternoons, beginning in January. Without dedicated parish members,
our programs cannot successfully run and be of benefit to our parish children
and families. Please prayerfully consider helping as your schedule allows. If you

Holiday Fun!
During the week of October 26, the LFF K3-1st graders
will be bringing candy to class, to bag up and be
donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa.
While we can all enjoy trick-or-treating, there are
families and children who cannot, due to personal
illness or that of a sibling. If you are interested in donating candy or snack sized
Ziploc bags, please do so at the Parish Center, by October 24. Thank you!

The 6th annual WOMEN OF CHRIST® CONFERENCE is

Fair Trade Holiday Market At St. John Vianney
On October 26, St. John Vianney will be hosting their annual Fair Trade
Holiday Market. This is a great opportunity to buy gifts for yourself and your
loved ones, that also benefit artisans in the third world and here at home, by
offering fair trade items and items produced by organizations who espouse a
preferential option for the poor. Come and see the beautiful gifts, and you will be

Divorced

Coping At Holiday Time-When Someone You Love Has Died

The holidays present a special challenge to those who are grieving. It’s
supposed to be (and is) a time of great joy and happiness, filled with special
gatherings, celebrations and liturgies.

huge hole in you? Can you even
participate, and if so, how?
This session will aid you in reflecting
upon the dynamics of grieving and to
“befriend” the loss of a love one in the
midst of your holidays. It will draw upon
our Christian tradition and helpful
pastoral practices to provide a healthy spiritual and emotional foundation for

7th Annual Catholic Memorial Haunted House
The students of Catholic Memorial will be hosting a Haunted House on Oct . 24,
25, 31 and Nov. 1, 7:00 to 10:00 pm, with a
family friendly hour at 6:00 pm on Oct. 25
and Nov. 1. The cost is $7.00 per person
and is not recommended for children under
age 11, during regular hours.
This year, CMH has partnered with the
Waukesha Public Library and the Big Read
program. The house will be transformed
into a tribute to Edgar Allen Poe. All
proceeds benefit Fisher House Milwaukee –
Wisconsin’s first “home away from home”
for veterans and their families as they seek
medical treatment in southeast Wisconsin.

Annual Day Of Reflection For
Women At Holy Hill
The MACCW invites women
throughout the Archdiocese to their
Annual Day of Reflection on Wed.,
Oct. 29, at Holy Hill, 1525 Carmel
Road in Hubertus.
The day begins at 8:00 am at the
Cafe, with breakfast. Then, there will
be Benediction, after which Fr. Ken
Omernick, will speak on Mindfulness
& Meditation. After a break,
confessions will be heard, then Mass
at the Basilica, and a brief
presentation about the Basilica. Later,
you are free to explore the grounds.
